May 3, 2014- Year 3 Day 3
I am sorry for the delay. Weekend family activities got in the way of me being at the computer. I will attempt to be more prompt in the future.
Derby Day is now a thing in our family. The kids seemed to get excited about it, so therefore I am going to need to make this a bigger deal in the future.
Today's FREE PRETZEL went to my Aunt Liz. The youngest of my mom's sisters, my aunt Liz and I have enjoyed each others company at numerous Flyers/Devils games, her rooting for the Flyers and me the Devils. She happily accepted the FREE PRETZEL and definitely enjoyed it.
My Aunt Liz is one of the most loyal hockey fans I know and fits the mold of a Flyers fan, except she has seen so many ups and downs, that unfortunately expects the worst these days. Her heart bleeds orange and black and therefore after the recent opening round loss to the Rangers, (insert spitting sound) I thought it only appropriate that she receive the FREE PRETZEL as a consolation. All kidding aside, Liz and I have a lot of things in common. Golfing, gambling, hockey and horses, just to name a few. We have been known to take in an evening at the casino or a day at the track. We don't always agree on the same bets, or even root for the same teams, but we do know how to have fun.
To me, my aunt Liz means a lot of things. She reminds me of the 4th of July, as do most of my mom's relatives. The Casales and Morris/Seville clans join in the traditional Wenonah celebration every year. I think she once said "Anyone who is not willing to come to 4th of July with you is not worth being with." Or something like that.
She reminds me what being a true fan is. She loves the Flyers with the same passion that I love the Devils. She doesn't care that I root for a bitter rival and has taken me to the Flyers/Devils game every year for what seems like the last ten years or so. It's awesome. I can never thank her enough. If the Flyers do ever win a Stanley Cup, I will truly be happy for her. She would deserve it.
She loves being with my kids too. As crazy and as wild as they can be, she sees how much fun they are, yet is extremely protective of them and I thank her for being so kind, patient and courteous to them.
I wanted to thank Liz with the pretzel because she has followed the Daily Twist from the beginning and for always opening her doors to her shore house to not only my family, but all of the Casale's. I don't know how much a little FREE PRETZEL could do as a thanks, but that's all I got.
I look forward to hanging out down the shore again this summer if possible and even venturing to the track again soon. Thanks for all the times you have been there for me and for your extreme generosity over the years.

I think Star Wars Day may have nothing to do with Star Wars this year. A guest blogger may be waiting for Sunday.
This week kicks off NJASK for the 5th graders in New Jersey. Let's just hope that some fresh pretzels await my class at the end of the week.
Until Tomorrow...
