May 5th- Even Snowmonsters like Pretzels

May 5th, 2014- Year 3, Day 5

I totally get it—giving someone a free pretzel and then telling the whole world why they are wonderful is a gratifying experience.
FREE PRETZEL #5
I was happy to have another chance today and the recipient of Free Pretzel #5 is:
My Dad!

Bumble and friends enjoying a FREE PRETZEL
My dad is visiting us due to a missed flight after his weekend in Brooklyn with my sisters.  Lucky for us he navigated the trains from Trenton to Collingswood and is here for an impromptu visit.  A visit from Bumble is a welcome thing.
That is correct—his grandpa name is Bumble.  Like the abominable snow monster from the Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer movie.  It is a completely organic name that Patrick and Declan gave him after they saw the Rudolph figurines at the Camden Aquarium in the winter of 2010.  To them their six foot six grandfather with snow white hair is completely and totally Bumble.  Like any good grandparent he has embraced the name and on my side of the family the kids have a Bumble and a Toots (like foots) (my mom).  Nobody else at the park is shouting for those two grandparents… Lucky kids!
So as you can see, Bumble the person also  likes pretzels and making paper airplanes with his grandchildren.
Paper airplanes anyone?
Here is what I like about my Dad (for the info on my mom you can see a similar blog post last year dated May 4th)
He taught me how to navigate through airports with confidence.
He taught me to never use the word “utilize”--there is no need.
For more on this topic check out Grammar Girl—she is a linguistic superhero!
He taught me the importance of correctly using reflexive and intensive pronouns.
He taught me that at the end of June all the cool Supreme Court cases are decided before summer recess and this is important stuff that all citizens should know.
He bleeds HC purple just like me.
He makes a great gin and tonic.
He taught me that "nice gets nice". (a simple but useful philosophy)
Enjoy your pretzel Dad!

Tim's two cents:  It's always great to see Bumble, even if it is unexpected.  We have a great time playing golf together and enjoying a run to the casinos in the summer.  I enjoy this time and his generosity to our entire family.

I will be back tomorrow with another surprise for an unexpected recipient.

Until tomorrow...
